About
[a] Event Statement
Intercalary Event was initiated after a discussion about how artists approach research differently than scientists. The freedom through which artists pursue research allows their inquiries to breed multivalent results, often seemingly unconnected results, which can then act as springboards to new ways of seeing and communicating with the world.
The works are presented in a gallery setting, as well as in-situ in an antique observatory and an active library in Providence Rhode Island. Subjective idiosyncrasies and beauty are inserted into narratives of systems of observation, objectivity, and data, and in doing so, invite intercalary events into the history of these exhibition venues.
