The Chazan Gallery is a non-profit exhibition space, founded in 1969, which principally shows contemporary artists from the local Providence area. It is located in the Wheeler School. The gallery’s exhibitions are used as a teaching resource, and as such are integrated in the Wheeler’s curriculum at all the levels, from pre-school to grade twelve. The Wheeler was founded in 1889 by Mary C. Wheeler, an American Impressionist painter. The present gallery was completed as part of the school’s new library building in 1990. [map]
